How to Purchase Course Materials and Use Access Codes for Online Course Products
It's important to start the semester prepared. One way to prepare for your online course is to find out what textbook(s) and/or other course materials you'll need and purchase them. Watch this video to learn more about this. Some instructors use publishers' online course products for which you will need an access code. It’s important to read any information your instructor has about this in your syllabus and/or in your course on Blackboard. These online course products can be purchased in the QCC Bookstore. Once you purchase the access code, be sure to read the directions on your receipt carefully. If you need assistance with access codes or have other questions about products from specific publishers, please reach out to the Online Learning Coaches using the contact information on this website or log in to the General Academic Areas Tutoring Center in Blackboard.

What are Open Educational Resources (OER)?
QCC uses the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) definition of OER: “Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation, and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions." A list of which classes are using OER can be on The Q by using the search term “Open Educational Resources Course List.” You also can find this information in your course syllabus or by asking your instructor. For information about OER, please visit the QCC Alden Library OER LibGuide.
